Rishi Sunak must use his Lord Frost said the Conservative Party conference speech pledged to cut taxes to show «confidence» in voters.
The former Cabinet minister also called on the Prime Minister to minister to «paint us a picture» of how Britain under the Conservatives will be different from Britain under Labour.
Speaking at a conference in Manchester, Lord Frost outlined the three things he would most like to hear from Mr Sunak when he will give his leader's speech on Wednesday.
He told The Telegraph: “It should paint us a picture of what a Conservative Britain would be like, how it differs from Labour, what kind of society we are trying to create and how we get there.
“ I'd like to see him commit to tax cuts or cuts before the next election and the funding cuts that come with that, because that's important for credibility.
» And third, I'd like to see fundamental the red team's view of net zero. The net zero agenda has been hijacked by the bureaucracy, so we need to examine these policies in detail.
“I'd also like us to take another look at the fracking ban, which seems even more outlandish than before.”
Mr Sunak is widely expected to announce he is canceling HS2 north of Birmingham and that the government will use the money saved to improve east-west rail links and improve bus services.
He repeatedly emphasized that more people use buses every day than trains.
