The Russian automaker announced the start of a competition to name a new product of the brand. Internet users can propose ideas until October 25.
In the coming years, the Lada model range, according to the plan, should expand immediately due to several new products. The fact that the AVTOVAZ board of directors approved projects to create two new models of the brand at once became known back in September 2022. One of the announced cars will be a crossover on the same platform that underlies the current Lada Vesta. The current president of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, hinted at the corresponding development last summer.

Now the Russian company continues to work on a project to create a “B+ class urban crossover” — this is exactly the description of the future new product that AVTOVAZ gave. At the moment, the manufacturer is looking for a name for the Lada SUV. To this end, another competition was announced — the company intends to obtain options for potential names from Internet users, a corresponding message appeared on social networks, and participants are invited to send their options by email [email protected].
There are a number of requirements for name options, for example, the name of the car must: “be close and understandable to a Russian person”, “have a Latin spelling”, be euphonious, memorable and unique. In addition, it must be combined with the name of the brand, and there is also a limitation on length and composition — no more than six letters. The organizers of the competition are going to determine the winners who will take first, second and third places, they will receive prizes. AVTOVAZ plans to collect potential names for the new crossover within a week — until October 25.

Choosing a name for models with “people's help” may become a tradition for Lada. For example, in this way the manufacturer found a name for the budget Granta family, and in 2020, Internet users proposed names for some unnamed new product of the brand. Let us recall that then the variants Alta, Slava, Lika and Onega won (by the way, the last name is not for the company new: she registered it back in 2004).
So far, there is little information about the future urban crossover. It is known that it will be based on the Lada B/C “trolley”, on which the Vesta sedan and station wagon are currently based, as well as their “elevated” versions with the addition of “Cross” to the name. Most likely, the production of the new product will be launched at the AVTOVAZ plant in Tolyatti, where the Vesta family is currently being produced (previously the model rolled off the assembly line of the Izhevsk plant, and now the production of Largus and e-Largus is being transferred to the site).
The exact start date of production of the new SUV of the Russian brand has not yet been announced. However, judging by earlier reports from the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, serial production of such a crossover could start at the end of 2025.
It became known earlier that the model range of the Russian brand will be further replenished with a new of the Lada Iskra family, which will replace the Granta sedan, liftback and station wagon. According to the plan, mass production of the Iskra will begin at the end of 2024, and sales will begin in 2025. At the same time, it is expected that Grant will remain on the production line until the beginning of 2027.
