Body of lye attack suspect found in Thames

A message appeared on the London police website that a body was found in the Thames, which is believed to belong to Afghan Abdul Ezedi, wanted for an attack with lye.

It was previously reported that after the attack on January 31, eyewitnesses last saw Ezedi on Chelsea Bridge. Police believed the suspect had jumped into the Thames, so the search for him continued in the river.

Police added that due to the length of time in the water, the body could not be identified visually or by fingerprints. But because of the clothes and the items found in them, law enforcement officers are “firmly convinced” that they have found the suspect’s body.

Recall that on the night of February 1, Ezedi threw a caustic substance at his friend, who came to meet two children. As a result, the woman's face was burned, and doctors said she could lose sight in one eye. Children were also injured, but have already been discharged from the hospital. A total of 12 people were injured during the incident, including five police officers.
