The head of the Oryol city of Bolkhov was sent under house arrest

MOSCOW, July 22 The Zavodskoy District Court of Orel placed the head of the city of Bolkhov, Vladimir Avilov, under house arrest for two months in a case of abuse of power, the press service reported court
The head of Bolkhov was detained under the article of abuse of power due to poor-quality work on the improvement of the Bolkhovkin Meadow park with damage in excess of 65 million rubles.

"In relation to Avilov V.V. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for a period of 2 months, until September 18, 2024,” the message says.

According to the court, Avilov is accused of committing a crime under paragraph “e” of Part 3 Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (exceeding official powers).

It is noted that the investigator requested that the accused be detained for 2 months, believing that if free he could influence witnesses and hinder the investigation of the case. However, the court did not establish circumstances precluding the application of house arrest to the defendant.
The press service of the SUSK of Russia for the Oryol region added that the criminal investigation against the head of the city of Bolkhov continues.
