Chinese FAW Bestune T77 compact crossover, already well-known on the Russian market, turned into Lada X-Cross as a result of badge engineering 5, it will be assembled at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, and other Ladas of Chinese origin will subsequently be registered there.

In December last year, the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg came under the control of AvtoVAZ, and by that time it was already known at the level of rumors that the idle site could be loaded with cars from the Chinese state automaker FAW. Today, these rumors were confirmed: at the AVTOVAZ dealer conference in Sochi, the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover was shown, which turned out to be a badge-engineered FAW Bestune T77. jpg» />FAW Bestune T77

We don’t have official photos of the new Lada model yet, but from the unofficial pictures published on the Web, it’s clear that there are almost no differences, they come down to Lada emblems instead of Bestune, the Bestune inscription has disappeared from the jumper between the rear lights, and the X-Cross 5 nameplate has appeared on the tailgate Salon with a two-screen scoreboard of the car shown to dealers is entirely Chinese, with the Bestune emblem on the steering wheel. The number 5 indicates the position of the crossover in the Lada model range, that is, there will be X-crosses with other numbers — also, presumably, made from FAW models.

FAW Bestune T77

The original FAW Bestune T77 entered the Russian market at the end of 2021, last year, according to the Avtostat agency, 503 copies of this model were registered in our country. At the moment, Bestune T77 is offered in the Russian Federation with a single petrol 1.5-liter turbo engine (160 hp, 258 Nm), it was also under the hood of the X-Cross 5 shown to dealers, but the serial Lada characteristics can be “edited” . Gearbox — 6-speed «mechanics» or 7-speed «automatic» type DCT (with two clutches), front-wheel drive only.

Overall length FAW Bestune T77 — 4525 mm, width — 1845 mm, height — 1615 mm, wheelbase — 2700 mm. Trunk volume — 375 liters, with the rear seats folded — 1525 liters. The front suspension is McPherson type, the rear is semi-independent with a transverse torsion beam.

Lada X-Cross 5 will be put into production in the coming months with a minimum level of localization. No other details yet, no prices either. For reference, let's say that the FAW Bestune T77 now costs in Russia from 2,169,000 rubles.
