RYAZAN, November 16.The prosecutor's office appealed the verdict of Alexander Logunov, whom the district court in Ryazan gave 11 years in a maximum security colony in the high-profile case of the murder of his wife Elena, whose body was searched for more than a year, the regional prosecutor's office reported.
A twenty-six-year-old resident of Ryazan disappeared in July 2021, a murder case was opened. On the air of one of the federal television channels, Logunova’s parents assumed her husband’s involvement, while his relatives believed that she would return soon. Soon, on behalf of the Chairman of the RF Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, the case was transferred to the central office of the department.
In August 2022, the husband of the missing woman, Alexander Logunov, was detained; the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested him on charges of distributing pornography. In October, Logunova’s body was discovered in a suburb of Ryazan. In November, the Russian Investigative Committee reported that her widower had been charged with the murder of a woman. It was established that he strangled his wife during a domestic conflict. The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Ryazan announced the verdict on November 1 — Logunov received 11 years in a maximum security colony.
