MAKHACHKALA, January 10 Police in Dagestan detained a man who, threatening death, extorted 15 million rubles from an acquaintance, the press service of the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
«Makhachkala police have established that since December 10, 2023, a 42-year-old man, threatening physical harm, has been extorting 15,000,000 rubles from a local resident. While processing the information received about the alleged extortion, the suspect was given a dummy money. The police man delivered to the department,» the message says.
The suspect confessed to the crime and said that he demanded money for the debt allegedly incurred by the victim. Based on this fact, a criminal case of extortion was opened (Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
“I extorted money from a friend in the amount of 15 million rubles. I threatened to kill him, but I didn’t want to cause him any harm,” says the detainee in a video of the interrogation presented to the public by the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.
