MOSCOW, January 19 An exhibition project about NATO, a traveling exhibition «Donbass», as well as projects dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad and the 50th anniversary the beginning of the construction of the BAM were included in the plan of events for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia; the corresponding plans were announced at a meeting of the organizing committee for preparing the anniversary celebration.
“As part of the 100th anniversary, we have developed an extensive exhibition program that will cover various regions of our country from Kaliningrad to the Far East,” said museum director general Irina Velikanova.
The opening of the first exhibition, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad, is planned for January 25, she said. Part of the exhibition has already opened in Kaliningrad on Thursday. The multimedia exhibition «The Highway. Between the Past and the Future» will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the start of construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.
In addition, the plan provides for traveling exhibitions covering events in modern history. One of them will be the multimedia project “NATO: A History of Deception,” the main goal of which is to provide young people from different countries with convincing evidence of NATO’s aggressive policy and materials about Russia’s efforts to form a multipolar world system. The exhibition is planned to be held in Sochi on the federal territory of Sirius.
Another current project of the museum will be the traveling exhibition “Donbass” — a joint project with the State Historical Museum and the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve. “In order to understand the prerequisites and reasons for a special military operation, you need to know history, understand what is happening in the larger historical context,” noted Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky.
In the action plan adopted at the meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, about 30 projects were noted that should take place in 2024-2025.
“Despite all efforts, it is impossible for the museum to realize all its plans alone, so I would like to ask the members of the organizing committee to provide the museum staff with full support,” said the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.
