NIZHNY NOVGOROD, January 22The results of the autopsy of the deceased cat Twix will be given only to the animal’s owners, said the head of the testing center of the Kirov Regional Veterinary Laboratory, Sergei Scriabin.
Earlier, volunteer Olga Kudryashova told the agency, citing the preliminary conclusion of doctors, that the death of the cat Twix, who was thrown out by the conductor during a stop in Kirov, was due to an animal bite and frostbite.
As reported at the testing center of the Kirov Regional Veterinary Laboratory, the cat’s body should be sent to them for research: “No one is doing this except us.” Nevertheless, the laboratory refused to announce the results of the examination.
“Any information between the customer and the laboratory is confidential, so I cannot provide you with any information. Only to the customer. All information is available only to the owner or his authorized representative,” said the head of the testing center of the veterinary laboratory.
He added that they will also be required to provide information “at the request of the competent authorities” who are conducting an investigation into the incident with the animal.
On January 11, Twix the cat was dropped off by a conductor at a parking lot in Kirov (the woman mistakenly mistook the animal for a stray). Dozens of volunteers searched for the cat. On Saturday, January 20, the pet owner reported the death of the animal and promised to do everything to ensure that the perpetrators were punished. According to volunteers, Twix was found dead a kilometer from the place where he was released from the carriage. After the incident, Russian Railways reported that the company would change the rules for transporting animals — conductors would not be able to disembark them from trains onto the street. After the emergency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not initiate a criminal case of arbitrariness due to the lack of corpus delicti.
