MOSCOW, January 22 A magnetic storm will cover the Earth on Tuesday, January 23, according to the forecast of the solar astronomy laboratory of the Space Research Institute and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.< br />Peaks of the magnetic storm are predicted at 6:00 and 12:00 Moscow time, while it will reach the G1 level, which is assessed as weak (maximum — G5).
Laboratory staff previously reported that the strongest flare in the current solar cycle occurred on the night of January 1, 2024. It was assigned a score of X5.0, which is almost twice as high as the X2.8 flare that previously occupied first place (occurred on December 14, 2023).
The last time a larger event than The current one, namely the X8.2 level outbreak, occurred on September 10, 2017.
