Police have identified the shooter of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. Local media write about this.

According to the police, the shooter turned out to be a 71-year-old native of the city of Levice. He has already been detained. The motives for the attack are being clarified.

According to local media, the shooter is a writer and supporter of the opposition party Progressive Slovakia, Juraj Cintula.

It is also reported that the life of the prime minister, who was urgently hospitalized, is not in danger.

It became known earlier that the bullets hit the leg, arm, chest and stomach.

The attempt on Fico’s life has already been condemned by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The politician on her social network page stated that “such acts of violence have no place in our society.”
