He stressed that troops will ensure the security of New Caledonia's airport and its seaports.

The High Commissioner of New Caledonia announced the necessary reinforcements Louis Le Franc. On his orders, TikTok was turned off on the islands so that the rioters could not interact with each other. A 12-day state of emergency has been introduced on the archipelago.

Two instigators of the protests were placed under house arrest.

On May 13, a peaceful demonstration resulted in pogroms. In Noumea, shops, gas stations, and pharmacies were beaten and robbed. Hundreds of people were injured. Four people were killed, including a 22-year-old gendarme.

Protesters are unhappy with the new document in the French Parliament, which infringes on the voting rights of local residents. Currently, only those who were included in the voter list at the time of the Noumea Agreement in 1998 can vote. There are many young people among the rioters.
