Friends star Matthew Perry says «mean» comments he made about Keanu Reeves will be removed from future editions of his memoir.
In 2022, Perry released a memoir titled «Friends, Lovers and the Big Bad Thing» in which the actor details his struggles with alcohol and opioid addiction.
Reflecting on actor River Phoenix's death of a drug overdose at 23, Perry wrote: «Why are original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger dying while Keanu Reeves still walks among us?»
Phoenix was a close friend of Reeves, now 58. .
'Bad business'
Later, when discussing the death of Chris Farley, an American comedian who died of an overdose in 1997, he also mentioned the Matrix actor.
«I punched a hole in the wall of Jennifer Aniston's dressing room when I found out about this,» he wrote. «Keanu Reeves walks among us.»
In the book, Perry talks about his near-death experiences while struggling with addiction, including how his heart stopped for five minutes while he was in rehab.

So far at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival on Saturday, Perry said he «pulled out [Reeves'] name» because he happened to live across the street from the Friends actor.
» Any future versions of the book will not mention his name,» he added.
He called these jokes «nonsense», adding: «It was a mean act.»
Perry said that he hasn't had a chance to apologize to Reeves in person yet, but said, «If I run into this guy, I'll apologize.»
