A male nanny who advertised himself as a «manny» and worked for families throughout southern California before being convicted of sexually abusing 16 boys in his care has been sentenced to more than 700 years in prison.
Matthew Antonio Zakrzewski, who was also found guilty of exposing the boy to child sexual abuse material, received the punishment at his sentencing hearing Friday, California prosecutors said in a statement.
< p class="dcr-1kas69x">Prosecutors said he received a total of 707 years in prison for more than 30 felonies for which he was convicted in October. Prosecutors said he made a statement in court Friday in which he did not apologize.
«I am proud to bring smiles to your children and all the good times we survived, were 100% sincere,” noted Zakrzewski, 34, as the victims’ parents covered their ears and cried, according to prosecutors.
< p class="dcr-1kas69x">Zakrzewski was arrested in May 2019 after a couple told Laguna Beach police that he touched their son inappropriately. Other alleged victims were identified, and Zakrzewski was eventually charged with 34 felonies, including lewd and lascivious acts with minors.
According to investigators, the victims were children in ages from two to 12 years. According to the local district attorney, the jury found Zakrzewski guilty on all charges.
«These young boys were forced to endure unimaginable horror as a result of betrayal at the hands of their babysitter,» District Attorney Todd Spitzer previously said.
Zakrzewski, of Costa Mesa, argued that he was more than «manny» babysitting. He also stated that he would provide a fun bonding experience for those under his care.
