    A man was arrested in the Rostov region for beating a WWII monument with a sledgehammer

    ROSTOV-ON-DON, November 24. The court imprisoned a resident of the Rostov region, who is suspected of breaking and damaging signs at the memorial of the monument to the “Soldiers-Liberators of the Great Patriotic War” in a pre-trial detention center. , reported in the Telegram of SUSC in the region.

    Last Wednesday, a man in the village of Vesely destroyed memorial plaques with the names of fallen soldiers with a sledgehammer. The detainee was a 37-year-old local resident who could not clearly explain his motives. The crime weapon was confiscated from him.

    A criminal case was initiated under the article “Damage to monuments perpetuating the memory of those killed in defense of the Fatherland.” The suspect will be held in custody at least until January 23 next year.
