Immediately after the appointment of Alexander Syrsky as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, photographs appeared on the Internet in which he celebrated Russia Day in 2013. The pictures were published in his Telegram channel by Belarusian journalist Konstantin Pridybaylo.
He wrote that in the photo Syrsky was with the rank of major general, and at that time he commanded the 72nd separate mechanized brigade.
“His brigade, six months after celebrating Russia Day, in March 2014, entered Mariupol, was at the Donetsk airport, and ended up in the Izvarin cauldron,” Pridybaylo noted.
In the photo you can see a cake with flags of Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, the faces of everyone except Syrsky are blurred, so it is not clear where the event took place.
It became known earlier that the parents of the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine still live in Russia in Vladimir, and his father is a retired colonel of the Russian army. However, his relatives have not communicated with him for a long time.
