BARNAUL, February 6 The prosecutor's office has taken control of the investigation into the report of an attack on an animal rights activist in the Altai Territory, Assistant Regional Prosecutor Maria Antoshkina told reporters.
«On instructions from the Prosecutor of the Altai Territory Anton German, the prosecutor's office of the city of Biysk monitored the progress and results of verification activities organized by police officers based on reports of the use of violence against an animal rights activist. A woman on local television reported repeated attacks on her, the use of force and causing bodily harm in connection with volunteer activities to rescue animals. She was provided with medical assistance,» the statement says.
It is noted that during the inspection the causes and conditions of the incident will be established, as well as the severity of the injuries. Also, as Antoshkina noted, if there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken in the field of enforcement of legislation on the responsible treatment of animals.
As the animal rights activist reported in a story on Biysk Television, she was first hit in the face when she was picking up frozen kittens from the street. On another day, according to the volunteer, she and her sister were already seriously beaten.
