MAKEEVKA (DPR), March 2As part of the federal project “Without a Statute of Limitations,” the play “Remember Your Name” took place in Makeevka (DPR), the correspondent reports.
“This performance is dedicated to concentration camp prisoners. We received an offer from Buryatia, from Khorinsk, to work with such a script. The script was written based on the old Soviet film of the same name, “Remember Your Name,” said Irina Kusheleva, head of the national theater-studio “Shtrikh”.

She noted that earlier this theatrical production was able to take first place at the tenth international art festival-competition among children's and youth theater groups «Palette of the Soul-2023». “This school year we took the play “Remember Your Name” to the city of Kazan, where the premiere took place. We took first place there,” the theater director emphasized.
According to her, the importance of the topic raised by the performance is to preserve the memory among people, including children, of what happened during the Great Patriotic War. “I want people to remember what it was and not to forget. To some extent, this story is about our children, the children of war,” said Kusheleva.
«They came here several times a week, sat here for 5-6 hours… everything was in mutual understanding, in a friendly atmosphere,” — spoke about how one of the participants, Elizaveta Taran, prepared for the performance. She noted that now children do not understand the full seriousness of the topic, and such projects help them feel and see clearly from the emotions of the actors how the events of those years took place.
According to Anton Saenko, a federal expert on the project “Without a Statute of Limitations,” the performance is designed to preserve the historical memory of the victims of the Nazi genocide during the Great Patriotic War.
“The connection of the performance with the theme of the project “Without a Statute of Limitations” is obvious, because we know that this project is dedicated to preserving the historical memory of the victims of the Nazi genocide during the Great Patriotic War; similar performances are staged in other cities. But the uniqueness of the performance staged by Makeyevka children and teachers lies in the conditions in which the rehearsals and production took place. This deserves great respect and recognition,” says Saenko.
The performance itself was staged as part of the project “Defending historical truth in the activities of the association of former juvenile prisoners of fascism and an initiative group of citizens of the city of Makeyevka, Donetsk People’s Republic,” which won the competition of the Presidential Grants Fund to support civil society. In Buryatia, the only publication in the world of former juvenile prisoners of concentration camps is published — the newspaper «Fate», therefore it was in Buryatia that this grant project related to activities to preserve historical truth was initiated.
Parents of the performance participants also highly appreciate the importance of such projects. “The script is very serious and very deep. The topic is quite important for children, because children, especially the current generation, simply do not know much about those events and sufficiently fully and succinctly,” said Elizabeth Taran’s mother Svetlana.
